1.Public Prosecutor Duties:

Public Prosecutors are responsible for investigating cases, deciding on prosecution, and representing the State in court. They must be impartial, aid the court, and present all relevant evidence. 

2.Director of Prosecution:

The Director of Prosecution, the head of the Directorate, functions under the administrative control of the Home Department and oversees the prosecution cadre. 

3.Appointment and Promotion:

The appointment and promotion of Public Prosecutors, including Additional Public Prosecutors, are governed by specific rules and processes, including potential contract-based appointments. 

4.Powers and Functions:

The powers and functions of the Director of Prosecution, including monitoring cases, expediting proceedings, and advising on appeals, are defined by the rules. 

5.Legal Advice:

Public Prosecutors provide legal advice to the court, the police, and other government departments. 

6.Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include scrutinizing challans, preparing appeal grounds, and communicating instructions from the Director of Prosecution and the State Government. 

7.Remuneration and Service Conditions:

The terms and conditions of service, including remuneration, allowances, and other benefits, are also governed by the Law Officers (Terms and Conditions) Amendment Rules.
