The Directorate of Prosecutions in Maharashtra state is headed by the Director of Prosecution. The Directorate of Prosecutions in Maharashtra state functions under the administrative control of Home Department through Director General (Legal & Technical). All the prosecutors are subordinate to the Director of Prosecution.
Director of Prosecution is assisted by the Assistant Director (Administration), Additional Public Prosecutor and Assistant Public Prosecutor to look after the administration and supervision of entire State’s prosecution. Deputy Director of Prosecution is responsible for the administration of the region. Assistant Director and Public Prosecutor is responsible for the administration of the District and also entrusted with prosecution in District and Sessions Court. Additional Public Prosecutor are entrusted with prosecution District and Sessions Court, Additional District and Sessions Court. Regular Assistant Public Prosecutors and Assistant Public Prosecutors appointed u/s. 25(3) of Cr.P.C. / 19(3) of B.N.S.S. Are entrusted with prosecution in Magistrate Courts.
The Directorate of Prosecution, Maharashtra State is having its Logo indicating its aspiration. Various training programs both online and offline are arranged for enhancing the capacity of the Prosecutors in the State.
